copan's continuing continuing network issues

Complaints about my dehnert.arctic.org email address bouncing caused me to finally go take another look at why copan doesn't have acceptable network. (Why? Well, dehnert.arctic.org's NS records still use copan, so when copan doesn't have network nobody can send mail to that domain, even though the MX record uses masada. I've tried to get the arctic.org maintainer to change the NS records, but no luck yet.)

I did some fiddling around on copan, and then shut down all the VMs (copan and gwynedd) on borobudur and fiddled around on that as well. Nothing I tried got me networking on the 66.92.29.156 IP address that copan should be binding. I'm increasingly growing to think that the problem is not configuration --- perhaps my network card broke, or there are internal wiring issues.

I'll be back home in a bit over a week, at which point I'll take another shot at puzzling this out. I don't hugely care about copan at this point, but it'd be nice to have the machine working again...
